AFCON 2027 qualifiers draw sets stage for fierce competition

The highly anticipated draw for the AFCON 2027 qualifiers took place this past Tuesday in Cairo. Now, all 48 participating teams have their marching orders as they prepare for the road to the tournament.

These nations have been split into 12 groups of four teams each. The top two finishers from every group will secure their spots in the final tournament, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The qualifying campaign is set to unfold in two phases: early matches in September and October 2026, followed by the concluding fixtures in March 2027.
