why this Lyon vs Lens match matters
Olympique Lyonnais arrives at Groupama Stadium with everything to play for. Currently fourth with 60 points, the OL suffered a recent setback against Toulouse (1-2), despite Corentin Tolisso’s late equalizer (71st minute). A victory over Lens, combined with a slip-up by Lille against Auxerre, could propel Lyon into the top three. The stakes couldn’t be higher.
On the other side, RC Lens is riding a wave of success. The Sang et Or have claimed multiple UNFP trophies this season, including Pierre Sage as Coach of the Year and Robin Risser as Goalkeeper of the Year. Four Lens players—Thauvin, Sangaré, Sarr, and Risser—have also been named to the league’s Team of the Season. With their season already decorated with accolades, Lens will aim to end the campaign on a high note against a Lyon side fighting for European glory.
