The transfer of Lucas Digne to Paris Saint-Germain is reportedly nearing completion. The French national team’s left-back is set to depart Aston Villa and commit to Paris Saint-Germain until June 2029. Notably, Digne himself has already informed his fellow French squad members in the United States about this significant career move.
This saga has unfolded with remarkable speed. Within mere hours, events accelerated, paving the way for Lucas Digne to rejoin Paris Saint-Germain a decade after his initial departure. Reports emerged earlier this week, quickly gaining traction as multiple sources corroborated the developing story. The French international left-back, who was under contract with Aston Villa until June 2028, even became the subject of playful teasing within the national team’s locker room.
Teasing from teammates about the Paris saint-germain move
“Lucas Digne to PSG, while not 100% finalized, is certainly happening. His teammates have been teasing him extensively, as the French national team’s changing room is increasingly resembling that of PSG. They ribbed him because they saw the news circulating in the press,” a source close to the team revealed on Monday evening, just before the World Cup semi-final match between the French team and Spain.
Digne confirms agreement with Paris saint-germain for a three-year deal
Furthermore, it is understood that Lucas Digne officially confirmed his agreement with PSG to his fellow Bleus players. “Lucas Digne confirmed it to them because he has reached an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for a three-year contract. All that remains is to activate the clause, reportedly under €10 million, once he is available after the World Cup. Lucas Digne is willing to be Nuno Mendes’ backup for two main reasons: he embraces this project, which perfectly suits his family, providing a very Parisian family environment, and his family adores the capital. He even has children who are avid fans of Paris Saint-Germain. Everyone is delighted that their father is signing. While he could have earned significantly more elsewhere, he will undoubtedly be content, as there is only one city in the world quite like Paris.” The outcome of this transfer operation appears to be unequivocally sealed.
