New political force “credible alternative” emerges in Côte d’Ivoire

Abidjan, July 5, 2026 – A new political movement, “Alternative crédible” (ACR), has been officially unveiled to the press, positioning itself as a fresh option for the nation. The presentation by its leaders took place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, during a press conference held in Grand-Bassam.

During the event, Oxyde Tano, who serves as the National Executive Secretary for ACR, articulated the foundational principles, ambitious goals, and overarching vision of this emerging political force. He emphasized that ACR aims to provide concrete solutions to the socio-economic and democratic challenges currently facing Côte d’Ivoire.

Tano further elaborated that this initiative took root on December 1, 2025, stemming from the collective will of women, men, and young people from diverse backgrounds. Their shared determination is to introduce a novel approach to political engagement within Côte d’Ivoire.

According to Tano, the establishment of ACR is built upon a common observation: despite its considerable human and natural wealth, Côte d’Ivoire continues to grapple with numerous difficulties. These include the escalating cost of living, widespread youth unemployment, persistent social inequalities, deficiencies in public services, and significant societal divisions.

As a left-leaning political movement, ACR firmly places the human being at the core of its agenda. Its vision is centered on forging a Côte d’Ivoire that is “just, prosperous, reconciled, democratic, solidary, and deeply respectful of the rule of law.”

Operating under the slogan, “Tomorrow is decided today,” ACR is committed to championing a governance style rooted in transparency, constructive dialogue, and a relentless pursuit of the general interest. Over time, the movement aspires to rally the nation’s vibrant forces around a credible political project, thereby contributing to the development of a more efficient state, a more inclusive economy, and a more equitable society.

The leadership of ACR outlined the principal pillars of their political platform. These encompass fostering youth employment and entrepreneurship, enhancing the educational system, ensuring access to quality healthcare, modernizing the agricultural sector, guaranteeing the security of individuals and property, promoting women’s empowerment, combating the high cost of living, stimulating economic development, protecting the environment, and strengthening national unity.

Oxyde Tano affirmed ACR’s readiness for dialogue with all political and social entities that share its core values of peace, democracy, social justice, and development. He underscored that particular attention would be directed toward young people, women, workers, economic operators, students, and the Ivorian diaspora.

The National Executive Secretary also announced that the movement’s official public launch is slated for August in Cocody. At this significant gathering, ACR’s President, Bamba Abou, will formally present the movement’s comprehensive political vision and the key orientations of its program.

In anticipation of this ceremony, a series of nationwide awareness tours, general assemblies, the establishment of local coordination bodies, and extensive national mobilization and membership campaigns are currently being organized across the territory.

“The moment has arrived to pen a new chapter in our history,” concluded Oxyde Tano, reiterating ACR’s profound ambition to contribute to the construction of a Côte d’Ivoire that is “more just, stronger, and more prosperous.”
