PSG fans rate player performances after Champions League victory
João Neves, Willian Pacho and Marquinhos received the highest ratings from fans following PSG’s Champions League triumph.
Following PSG’s second consecutive Champions League victory, a historic 1-1 draw against Arsenal in Budapest (4-3 on penalties), over 15,000 fans rated the players’ performances. The online ratings were generally more generous than those awarded by professional journalists.
At the end of an intense final, more than 15,000 online voters assessed the players’ performances under Luis Enrique‘s leadership. The Spanish manager, now a three-time Champions League winner, earned a 7.6 rating—significantly higher than the 6 awarded by the editorial team.
Top-rated PSG players according to fans
After the equalizing goal, João Neves stepped up his game, dominating duels until the final whistle. The Portuguese midfielder received the highest rating from fans (7.2), a score echoed by the editorial team, who also gave him a 7. Marquinhos (6.6) and Willian Pacho (6.6) rounded out the Parisian podium. The Brazilian captain was also rated 7 by the editorial team, while Pacho received a 6.
Solid defensive ratings
The defense received strong marks, with Achraf Hakimi (6.2) and Nuno Mendes (6) earning scores of 6 or higher from fans. However, Nuno Mendes’ rating diverged from the journalists’ assessment, who gave him a 4 due to his missed penalty in the shootout.
Lower-rated players
In midfield, Fabian Ruiz (5.8) was the only Parisian player rated below 6, likely penalized for an unsettled start marked by turnovers. Vitinha, who exited early due to cramps, earned a 6.4 from fans—a notable improvement over the editorial team’s 5. Meanwhile, Matveï Safonov, rarely called upon, still impressed fans with a 6.2, compared to a 5 from journalists.
Attacking contributions
Up front, forwards also benefited from fans’ leniency. Désiré Doué and Ousmane Dembélé each received a 6.1, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia earned a 6.2 for his role in securing the equalizing penalty and overall impact.
Arsenal players rated by fans
The online voters were less generous with Arsenal’s squad, averaging 4.9 compared to a 5 from journalists. David Raya (6.1), William Saliba (5.9), and Kai Havertz (5.8)—the lone goal scorer—received the highest marks from both fans and journalists. In contrast, Jurrien Timber (4.6), Viktor Gyökeres (4.2), Bukayo Saka (4.5), and Declan Rice (5.3) faced harsher evaluations. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta received the lowest rating from fans at 4.1, compared to a 4 from journalists.
