With the Champions League final now behind them, Paris Saint-Germain’s leadership is gearing up to take decisive action in the pursuit of signing Julian Alvarez. The French club is reportedly preparing an ambitious bid to secure the Argentine striker from Atlético Madrid, a deal that could exceed €100 million.
Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in Julian Alvarez isn’t new. Back in the summer of 2024, the club led by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi made a strong push to sign the 26-year-old striker, but the Argentine ultimately chose to join Atlético Madrid instead. The Spanish side outmaneuvered Manchester City with a bid nearing €75 million to secure his services.
Paris Saint-Germain revives pursuit of Alvarez
Despite being rebuffed two years ago, PSG has not abandoned its ambition to land Julian Alvarez. Luis Campos, the club’s sporting director, has reportedly reignited the pursuit, aiming to bring the Argentine to Luis Enrique’s squad this summer. Insiders suggest that PSG’s sporting hierarchy recently met with Fernando Hidalgo, Alvarez’s agent, to express their renewed interest and present an offer. With the club having just competed in the Champions League final, negotiations were temporarily paused to avoid any internal distractions that could impact the team’s critical preparation.
Atlético Madrid sets high price for Alvarez
According to reports, Atlético Madrid is holding firm on its valuation of Julian Alvarez, insisting on a transfer fee well in excess of €100 million. The Argentine, who was crowned Champions League winner for the second consecutive year, has become a prime target for Europe’s elite clubs. PSG, under Nasser Al-Khelaïfi’s leadership, appears poised to make a bold move and submit an official proposal to the Colchoneros for their star number 19. Whether Alvarez will accept the offer this time remains the big question.
