With the 2026 FIFA World Cup just around the corner, Marcus Rashford faced pressing questions about his future, especially as speculation swirls about a potential departure from Manchester United. The striker, preparing for the Round of 16 clash against co-hosts Mexico at the Azteca Stadium, made it clear that no decisions would be made until after England’s campaign at the tournament concludes.
After an impressive stint on loan at Barcelona—where he netted 14 goals and provided 14 assists in 49 appearances, helping the Catalan side secure the La Liga title—the English forward was recalled by the Red Devils when the Spanish giants opted instead for Anthony Gordon. Now, Rashford is set to return to Manchester United’s squad post-World Cup, barring any unexpected twists, with interim manager Michael Carrick reportedly eager to welcome him back into the fold.

Rashford emphasized that any transfer discussions must be completed before the World Cup begins. If that doesn’t happen, he would rather postpone the matter until after the tournament. “I’ve been crystal clear—I wanted everything sorted before the World Cup. If that wasn’t possible, I’d prefer to wait until after. I need to stay fully focused on the present,” he stated.
The England international remains under contract for two more years, with a reported weekly wage of £325,000 (€380,000). Fans are eager to see him back in the United starting lineup as the club gears up for a Champions League return and a title challenge next season.
“We’re fighting for something truly special,” he added, reflecting the high stakes ahead for both club and country.
