Algerian prime minister concludes Niger visit after energy project launch

Following a high-profile diplomatic mission to Niamey, the Algerian Prime Minister, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, departed Niger on Wednesday. His official visit centered around the inauguration of the Algerian-Nigerien Solidarity Electric Power Plant, a 40-megawatt facility gifted by Algeria to Niger as part of a broader commitment to regional energy development.

This strategic infrastructure project underscores the deep bonds of brotherhood, cooperation, and solidarity between Algeria and Niger. It represents a tangible contribution to Niger’s ongoing efforts to bolster its energy infrastructure and drive sustainable growth. The plant was inaugurated in a joint ceremony led by Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb and Nigerien counterpart Mr. Ali Lamine Zeine Mahaman.

As part of his mission, the Algerian Prime Minister was also granted an audience with Niger’s Head of State, General of the Army Abdourahamane Tiani. During this meeting, Mr. Sifi Ghrieb conveyed the fraternal greetings of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering dedication to strengthening ties with Niger. He emphasized the shared vision of fostering deeper collaboration and solidarity between the two nations.

Upon concluding his visit, Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb was seen off at Niamey International Airport by Niger’s Prime Minister and Algeria’s Ambassador to Niger, Mr. Ahmed Saadi. His departure marked the successful completion of a visit aimed at deepening bilateral relations and advancing shared developmental goals.
