Benin: President Romuald Wadagni unveils 24-member cabinet

Benin’s newly elected president, Romuald Wadagni, has announced the composition of his first government. The cabinet comprises 24 ministers, including three deputy ministers. Following his inauguration on May 24, 2026, the president moved swiftly to establish his administration.

In Benin, President Romuald Wadagni has unveiled his first cabinet consisting of 24 ministers, including deputies. Elected in the April 12, 2026 presidential vote, Wadagni was sworn in on May 24 at the Palais des Congrès in Cotonou. Hours after taking office, he announced the formation of his administration.

The new government includes 24 ministers, with three deputy ministers assigned to the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Seven ministers from Patrice Talon’s outgoing cabinet have been retained, though some have been reassigned to different portfolios.

Wadagni has pledged to continue the development momentum established under his predecessor, Patrice Talon.
