This important parliamentary sitting is set to address a range of critical legislative texts concerning institutional reforms, the financial backing of major public initiatives, and the foundational regulations governing the national electoral framework.

Among the primary items on the agenda, parliamentarians will scrutinize a proposed bill to amend Article 94 of the law dated July 26, 2024, which pertains to the establishment of national orders in Bénin. Concurrently, the elected representatives will deliberate on a legislative proposal aimed at modifying the organic law governing the Economic and Social Council, an institution whose statutes underwent a revision as recently as March 2026.

The economic and cultural dimensions of the plenary session will focus on reviewing the decree that authorizes the ratification of a credit agreement. This agreement, signed on June 24, 2025, between the Republic of Bénin and the Agence française de développement (AFD), is specifically earmarked to support the development and realization of the Cotonou Contemporary Art Museum project.

The Electoral Code at the heart of parliamentary discussions

The most anticipated discussion point of this assembly concerns the legislative framework for elections. Deputies are scheduled to engage in debate over a proposed bill that seeks to repeal specific provisions within Title II of Book One of the Electoral Code, as it was last amended in 2024.

The examination of this proposal to repeal Title II of the first book of the current electoral code is drawing considerable attention, with many anticipating potential ramifications for the body responsible for organizing elections.
