Chad firmly denies claims of destabilization plot against Central African Republic

The spokesperson for Chad’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Adam Mahamat, over the past weekend, emphatically refuted allegations of a planned destabilization effort against the Central African Republic (CAR) allegedly orchestrated by N’Djamena.

Chadian diplomacy dismissed these claims as a deliberate disinformation campaign designed to tarnish Chad’s reputation and strain its relations with neighboring CAR. In a strongly worded statement, the ministry condemned what it described as “a blatant attempt at misinformation” and urged “those responsible to act with accountability while calling on media and social media users to prioritize verified facts.”

The Chadian government reiterated its stance, declaring that “Chad has never been, is not, and will never be involved in any subversive activity targeting a fellow African state.” The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized this position, underscoring that the country’s stability is intrinsically linked to the broader regional peace and security framework.

President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno has consistently upheld the principles of sovereignty, territorial integrity, and non-interference, reinforcing that Chad’s stability is pivotal for the entire Sahel region. The government’s commitment to these values was reaffirmed in its latest response, highlighting the importance of respecting international norms and regional cohesion.

Chad has frequently faced accusations from several Central and East African nations, alleging its involvement in supporting armed groups across borders. These claims have notably targeted factions such as the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), which have been engaged in conflict with Sudan’s military since April 15, 2023.
