Mali offers rewards for terror leaders in the Sahel fight

Mali targets Sahel terror chiefs with financial incentives

The Government of Mali has escalated its counterterrorism efforts by announcing substantial cash rewards for the capture or elimination of seven prominent terrorist leaders operating across the Sahel. These incentives range from 500 million to 2 billion West African francs, aiming to disrupt militant networks and restore security nationwide.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Security emphasized the urgency of the situation, declaring, “A financial bounty is now available for credible, actionable intelligence that leads to the arrest or neutralization of these individuals.”

The list of wanted figures includes some of the region’s most notorious militants. Among them, Iyad Ag Ghali stands at the top with a 2 billion FCFA reward, followed by Hamadoun Hassan Sankaré (Amadou Kouffa) and Abdoulaye Mahamadou Bekaye Diallo (Doulé Bib de Nampala), each valued at 1.5 billion FCFA. Alghabass Ag Intallah is also sought, with a 1 billion FCFA bounty attached to his name.

These individuals are accused of orchestrating violent attacks that have destabilized Mali, targeting civilians and security forces alike. The authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with defense and security agencies by sharing any relevant information that could aid in their apprehension.

By leveraging financial incentives, the Malian government hopes to weaken terrorist operations and bring those responsible for ongoing violence to justice.
