Nice football club faces closed-door sanctions after pitch invasions
OGC Nice has been hit with two full stadium closures and one suspended match as disciplinary action following chaotic scenes at Allianz Riviera during the final Ligue 1 fixture against Metz.
The LFP Disciplinary Committee handed down the sanctions in response to «pyrotechnic devices, pitch invasions and stadium damage at full-time» during the dramatic 34th and final league match of the season.
As a result, Nice will play the Ligue 1 relegation playoff return leg against AS Saint-Étienne on 29 May behind closed doors. The club has already filed an appeal to contest the decision, hoping to welcome supporters for the high-stakes encounter. However, at the first leg in Saint-Étienne on 26 May, striker Elye Wahi will be unavailable due to suspension.
Paris Saint-Germain also received sanctions—closure of the Auteuil stand at Parc des Princes for «pyrotechnic misuse and visual displays»—which will apply to their first home Ligue 1 game of the 2026-27 season.
The disciplinary body will deliberate at a later date regarding FC Nantes following the early match pitch invasion against Toulouse.
Additional suspensions handed down
- One-match suspension (firm): Benjamin André (Lille), Mahdi Camara (Stade Rennais FC), Christian Mawissa (AS Monaco), Elye Wahi (OGC Nice).
