Algeria’s Prime Minister, Sifi Ghrieb, made an official visit to Niamey on Wednesday, where he presided over the inauguration of the Solidarité power plant in the Gorou Banda district. This landmark event marks the start of full-scale operations for the facility, a key milestone in the energy partnership between Niger and Algeria.
The ceremony took place under the directives of Algeria’s President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, reinforcing the strategic collaboration between the two countries. Prime Minister Ghrieb was joined by Mourad Adjal, Algeria’s Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, as well as Abed Halouz, Director General of Algeria’s Agency for International Cooperation and Solidarity Development (ACISD), underscoring the high-level diplomatic engagement behind this project.
The Solidarité power plant, located in Niamey’s Gorou Banda neighborhood, represents a significant step forward in Niger’s efforts to expand its electricity infrastructure. The facility’s launch is expected to enhance energy access and reliability across the region, supporting both residential and industrial needs.
