The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are on the brink of completing their first major signing of the summer transfer window. Following their recent UEFA Champions League triumph, the club is moving swiftly to bolster their squad, with a reported deal for Russian playmaker Aleksey Batrakov now all but confirmed.
With the transfer saga gathering pace, insiders close to the negotiations have revealed that Batrakov’s move to the Parc des Princes is now a near certainty. The 25-year-old attacking midfielder, who plies his trade at Lokomotiv Moscow, is expected to command a fee of around €25 million, with additional performance-based incentives likely included in the agreement.
Transfer negotiations reach advanced stage
According to well-informed sources, the PSG hierarchy, led by sporting director Luis Campos, has already conducted multiple discussions with Lokomotiv Moscow regarding Batrakov’s transfer. The final hurdles are expected to be cleared within the next two weeks, with Campos scheduled to travel to Moscow in the coming days to finalize the paperwork. The deal is structured to include a base salary in the region of €5-6 million per season, reflecting the player’s rising profile in European football.
Lokomotiv coach backs PSG move
Andrey Nagibin, head coach of Lokomotiv Moscow’s youth teams and Batrakov’s former mentor, has publicly endorsed the potential transfer. In a candid interview, Nagibin emphasized Batrakov’s technical ability and adaptability, while acknowledging the challenges of transitioning to Ligue 1’s higher competitive standard. « He has the qualities to succeed at the highest level, but many factors must align for him to secure a starting position. The example of Safonov shows that even as a backup, opportunities can arise—he seized his chance and became a starter. I recently spoke with Alexey about this move, and he’s eager to take on the challenge. I wish him every success », Nagibin stated.
The impending arrival of Batrakov aligns with PSG’s strategy of blending experienced stars with emerging talent. His addition would further strengthen a squad already brimming with depth and ambition as they look to defend their domestic titles and mount a sustained challenge in Europe’s premier club competition.
