Early clashes erupted near the Parc des Princes, where the match was broadcast, prompting a series of interventions by law enforcement.
Unrest escalates beyond the stadium
By late afternoon, the situation had intensified across the capital. A dozen arrests were recorded near the Porte de Saint-Cloud and along the iconic Champs-Élysées, according to Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez, who was overseeing security arrangements on the famed boulevard. The area was cordoned off in the upper sections, leaving some supporters to watch the match on their devices while tensions simmered below.
Later, confrontations spread to the heart of the avenue, where protesters damaged a bus shelter and clashed with police. Reports also indicated sporadic mortar fire in the vicinity of avenue Kléber in the 16th arrondissement, while groups in the 18th district were observed moving through the streets, masked and armed with iron bars—though no immediate acts of vandalism were confirmed.
Gas deployed as crowds surge

10 held as authorities tally enforcement actions
By 7:30 PM, police had conducted 1,579 checks, issuing 64 fines, while 20 individuals were detained. Ten of those were placed in custody, along with the seizure of 24 torches and two mortars. A bus shelter on avenue de la Boétie, close to the Champs-Élysées, was also vandalized. Authorities noted that projectiles were thrown at officers in the area, where an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 spectators had congregated.
At the Parc des Princes, approximately 150 individuals attempted to force entry through a side gate. A rapid police maneuver thwarted the breach, restoring calm within minutes.
