Antoine Assalé Tiémoko, the mayor of Tiassalé, a vibrant cosmopolitan city situated approximately 120 kilometers from Abidjan, has unveiled plans to provide free communal transport services on weekends within the locality.
This innovative initiative is slated for implementation starting in late 2026, following an initial pilot phase.
“This measure aligns with our strategy to redistribute the commune’s growing resources. Our municipal funds, derived from local taxes, have seen a significant increase from 24 million FCFA in 2019 to 91 million FCFA in 2025, with projections indicating a rise to 100 million FCFA by 2026,” Mayor Assalé explained in an informational note published on his official Meta account.
Earlier, the mayor formally announced this groundbreaking scheme on Friday, May 22, 2026, during the 11th annual accountability day held at Tiassalé’s marriage hall.
A prominent politician and journalist, Assalé Tiémoko currently serves as the mayor of Tiassalé commune and presides over the political movement ‘Aujourd’hui et demain, la Côte d’Ivoire (ADCI)’.
