Chad halts Chinese oil firm’s operations over environmental concerns

In a significant move, Chad has ceased the operations of the state-owned Chinese petroleum company, CNPCI, since mid-August. This decision stems from severe violations of environmental standards. The Chadian Minister of Petroleum subsequently declared an extensive audit of all oil companies operating nationwide.

This action was a direct consequence of the company’s failure to adhere to crucial environmental regulations. Following this immediate cessation of operations, the Chadian Minister of Petroleum announced plans for a comprehensive investigation, intending to audit every single oil company active within the country’s borders.
