On Friday, July 17, 2026, Chadian President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno dispatched a significant, high-level delegation to Yaoundé. The mission carried a personal message intended for his Cameroonian counterpart, President Paul Biya, underscoring the ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
Leading this important delegation was Dr. Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul, the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Chadians Abroad. He was accompanied by several key officials, including Mahamat Saleh Abdeldjelil, Special Advisor to the Head of State; Fatima Haram Acyl, Minister of Oil, Mines, and Geology; and Hassan Adoum Younousmi, Director General of the Telecommunications Sector Regulatory Agency (ARSAT).

Given President Biya’s current absence from Cameroon, as he is presently abroad, the Chadian delegation was formally received at the prestigious Etoudi Palace. Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, the Minister of State and Secretary General of the Presidency of Cameroon, hosted the visitors.
While the specific contents of the transmitted message were not publicly disclosed, the head of the Chadian delegation emphasized that it aligns with the excellent relationship shared by both Heads of State and the fraternal ties between the Chadian and Cameroonian peoples. He articulated that this diplomatic overture reflects the profound commitment of the highest authorities in both countries to further solidify their cooperation and sustain continuous dialogue on matters of mutual interest.

Beyond the delivery of the presidential message, discussions during the visit also encompassed future cooperation prospects across several strategic sectors vital to both the Chadian and Cameroonian economies. Key areas of focus included enhancing partnerships in the economic, energy, and infrastructure domains, all within a broader context of a shared desire to deepen sub-regional integration.
This recent diplomatic endeavor continues a tradition of privileged relations that N’Djamena and Yaoundé have cultivated over many decades. It powerfully demonstrates the unwavering commitment of both states to maintain a consistent framework for consultation and to further consolidate the deep historical, political, and economic bonds that unite these two neighboring nations.
