In a joint statement, Kacou Adom emphasized Côte d’Ivoire’s commitment to aligning with Morocco’s strategic vision, stating that “the Ivorian government fully endorses these initiatives and will work alongside Morocco to ensure their successful implementation in line with His Majesty’s directives.”

A dynamic private sector partnership

The Ivorian foreign minister highlighted the robust collaboration between Moroccan and Ivorian private sectors, noting that “Moroccan businesses are playing a pivotal role in bolstering Côte d’Ivoire’s economic growth and infrastructure development.” He also revealed plans for a follow-up meeting to assess the progress of the Economic Impetus Group, a bilateral framework designed to amplify trade and investment flows between the two countries.

Sahara question remains a cornerstone of solidarity

Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed deep gratitude for Côte d’Ivoire’s consistent stance on the Sahara issue, a cause Morocco considers existential. “Côte d’Ivoire has been a steadfast ally of Morocco on this matter, a position that has earned widespread appreciation from His Majesty the King, the Moroccan people, and all sectors of society,” he remarked.

Bourita further praised Côte d’Ivoire as “a key bilateral partner for Morocco and a leading African voice in supporting Morocco’s royal initiatives, including the landmark Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline project.”

Gas pipeline project gains momentum

Morocco’s foreign minister detailed the progress of the Nigeria-Morocco gas pipeline, an ambitious infrastructure project aimed at connecting West Africa to Europe. “This initiative is advancing rapidly, particularly after the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) endorsed the intergovernmental agreement, paving the way for its realization,” he explained.

The meeting in Rabat served as a testament to the strong political, economic, and regional partnership between Côte d’Ivoire and Morocco. From unwavering support on the Sahara question to active participation in Morocco’s grand continental projects, Côte d’Ivoire continues to solidify its role as one of Morocco’s most trusted allies in Africa.
