Faure Gnassingbé, President of the Togolese Council, is set to embark on an official visit to Kampala on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the invitation of Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. This diplomatic mission aims to deepen the cooperative ties between Togo and Uganda.
During his stay, the Togolese leader will hold a private meeting with his Ugandan counterpart. Discussions are expected to focus on regional peace, security challenges, and African integration, particularly amid ongoing tensions in the Great Lakes region.
The visit coincides with the official swearing-in ceremony of President Museveni, who was re-elected in the general election held on January 15, 2026. The solemn event in the Ugandan capital will gather heads of state, government officials, and representatives from international organizations.
