During a high-level meeting at the Palais Rénovation yesterday, President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema welcomed Libreville’s mayor, Eugène Mba, for their second official discussion. This gathering follows the structured framework established after their initial encounter on April 28, focusing on enhancing local governance, assessing municipal performance, and fostering seamless collaboration between national and local authorities.
The mayor of Gabon’s capital presented a comprehensive progress report detailing his administration’s achievements since taking office on April 24. He also outlined the newly restructured municipal team at Hôtel de Ville. The agenda included transformative urban development initiatives: reorganizing urban spaces, building modern parking facilities, creating green and botanical zones, addressing illegal public land encroachments, and strengthening neighborhood infrastructure. Digitalization of municipal services was also highlighted as a key priority.
President Oligui Nguema emphasized the urgency of urban sanitation improvements, stressing that cleanliness is a top priority for the city’s progress. He called for intensified efforts to enhance household waste collection systems to meet modern standards.
Reaffirming his commitment to a progressive and attractive Gabon, the Head of State underscored that Libreville, as the nation’s showcase, must meet international benchmarks in urban planning, local governance, and public service quality. He urged Mayor Mba to lead with discipline, innovation, and efficiency in executing the city’s revitalization projects.
