Mark your calendars for May 22–23, 2026, when the OHADA Club of Abdou Moumouni University in Niamey (Club OHADA UAM) hosts its solemn opening session alongside the prestigious 8th OHADA Advocacy Masterclass Competition. From 09:00 to 12:00, participants will explore the dynamic evolution of OHADA law through keynotes, debates, and hands-on advocacy training.
The event’s central theme, “OHADA: Past, Present, and Future!”, sets the stage for rigorous discussions on the harmonised African business legal framework’s trajectory, its current relevance, and future adaptations.
Competition themes: navigating the future of OHADA law
The competition will tackle pressing questions shaping the legal landscape in Africa:
- Elimination round: “Should OHADA business law be redefined?”
- Final round: “Is OHADA law business law or economic activity law?”
These themes reflect ongoing debates about expanding OHADA’s scope and aligning it with Africa’s economic transformations and global standards.
Prizes and recognition
Top performers will be rewarded with:
- A professional internship in a leading legal firm;
- A brand-new laptop for sustained study and practice;
- A trophy celebrating excellence in advocacy.
