In a move to strengthen operational capacities across Mali’s security apparatus, the Ministry of Security and Civil Protection officially transferred twenty high-capacity vehicles to national security agencies. The handover ceremony, held on July 31, 2026, was led by General Daoud Aly MOHAMMEDINE, marking a significant investment in the country’s emergency and security infrastructure.

The newly acquired fleet includes six sixty-passenger buses, ideal for large-scale deployments, alongside specialized emergency response vehicles. Among these are a recovery truck, two Spiros tankers with 20,000-liter capacity, eight firefighting tankers holding 4,000 liters each, and three massive 50,000-liter firefighting and water-pumping trucks. These vehicles were distributed among the National Police, Civil Protection, National Gendarmerie, National Guard, and the Staff School of Security Forces.

National commitment to security enhancement

During the ceremony, General MOHAMMEDINE emphasized that these acquisitions reflect the transitional government’s unwavering commitment to expanding Mali’s security capabilities. Under the leadership of General d’Armée Assimi, President of the Transition, the initiative aims to ensure a secure environment that aligns with the nation’s collective aspirations. He highlighted the critical role of robust logistical support in enhancing the mobility and responsiveness of security personnel against evolving threats.

Civil Protection leads by example

Brigadier General Boucary KODIO, Director General of Civil Protection, underscored the beneficiary agencies’ dedication to maintaining exemplary standards in vehicle utilization. The event concluded with a live demonstration of the firefighting tankers, showcasing their rapid deployment capabilities during simulated emergency scenarios.
