The 58th ordinary session of the Interparliamentary Committee of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (CIP-UEMOA) is currently underway in Niamey. Amidst the ongoing proceedings, Dr. Mamoudou Harouna Djingarey, President of Niger’s Consultative Council for Refoundation (CCR), held a crucial meeting on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, with a significant delegation of community parliamentarians.
2027 budget and strategic direction central to discussions
Leading the CIP-UEMOA Bureau delegation was its interim president, Fononna Cheick Ahmed Coulibaly. Following this high-level engagement, Mr. Coulibaly revealed the primary topics deliberated with the Nigerien authorities.
This 58th ordinary session, hosted in the Nigerien capital from July 13 to 18, 2026, holds a predominantly financial focus.
“We seized this opportunity to brief the CCR President on the substance of our work, specifically concentrating on the review and approval of the CIP-UEMOA’s 2027 budget, alongside the multi-year budgetary programming framework for 2027-2029,” stated Fononna Cheick Ahmed Coulibaly.
Review of first half 2026 and focus on integration
The parliamentarians also evaluated the activities conducted during the first half of 2026, subsequently outlining priority actions and the required budgetary allocations for the latter half of the year. A significant aspect of their agenda was seeking guidance and counsel from the CCR President to expedite the regional integration process.

The interim CIP-UEMOA President warmly applauded Niger’s unwavering dedication. He emphasized that the exceptional reception underscored the robust relationship between the Consultative Council for Refoundation and the Interparliamentary Committee, highlighting Niger’s resolve to foster dialogue and solidarity across the West African region.
