The leader of Pastef, Ousmane Sonko, has firmly called on his followers to stop using insults and mocking nicknames aimed at authorities, denouncing such counterproductive behaviour and urging a debate focused solely on ideas and the party’s programme.
Speaking at a gathering at Dakar Arena, the Patriots’ head appealed to his supporters for reason, warning them against the trap of verbal attacks. In his view, these taunts resemble provocations designed to create legal grievances and lead to the imprisonment of those who use them. Sonko therefore urged the youth and party sympathisers to raise the level of political debate by staying focused on programmatic proposals and constructive exchanges of ideas.
Setting out the party’s new strategic direction, the president of the National Assembly asked his troops to concentrate on fieldwork. He encouraged them to travel across the entire national territory to expand and sustainably strengthen the party’s grassroots base. Finally, stressing the organisational future of Pastef, he underlined the urgency of enhancing the political and intellectual training of members to reinforce the party’s republican foundations.
