Presidential advisor firmly denies rumors of a secret agreement at Cap Manuel
With the PASTEF party congress just two days away, Aldiouma Sow, Advisor to the President of the Republic, took a bold stand to address recent statements made by Ousmane Sonko. In a strongly worded response, he defended President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, categorically dismissing allegations and rumors of a supposed “secret pact” allegedly formed during the detention period at Cap Manuel.
According to Aldiouma Sow, the Head of State never entered into any covert agreement while in detention. He emphasized that President Bassirou Diomaye Faye remained unwavering in his principles and political commitments throughout the process that led to the 2024 political transition.
The advisor also rejected any suggestion that the President participated in efforts to undermine the people’s sovereign right to choose their leader. “He has not engaged in any maneuver to subvert the Senegalese people’s democratic choice,” Aldiouma Sow asserted.
Dialogue as a core value, not a tactical tool
Expanding on his argument, Aldiouma Sow highlighted President Bassirou Diomaye Faye’s vision of political dialogue. In his view, dialogue for the President is not a situational tactic or a mere tool to navigate power dynamics. Instead, it is a fundamental principle that shapes his political and institutional actions.
This clarification comes at a time of heightened discussions and questions within the majority and among PASTEF supporters, as the party prepares for its much-anticipated congress. Aldiouma Sow’s statements reignite debates about the relationship between the two key figures in Senegal’s executive branch and the future direction of the government.
