Senegal’s president Diomaye Faye unveils new political party
In a strategic move reshaping Senegal’s political landscape, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has officially launched a new political party, marking a decisive break from his previous affiliation. The newly formed party, named Kiiraay – Les Patriotes républicains, replaces the former Pastef – Les Patriotes led by his former ally and former Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko. The term ‘Kiiraay’ in Wolof translates to ‘protection’, a concept President Faye intends to prioritize in all future initiatives and governance approaches.
