Democratic Republic of the Congo politics: samalukonde backs tshisekedi’s push for referendum law and national dialogue
On Sunday, July 26, 2026, the President of the Senate and moral authority of the political alliance Agissons et Bâtissons (AB), Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, gathered members of the Presidium, National Assembly deputies, senators, party secretaries general, and executive secretaries at the Golden Tulip Hotel in Bandal for a strategic dinner meeting.
This long-awaited gathering, held as the extraordinary parliamentary session concluded and lawmakers prepared for recess, focused on two critical topics: assessing the alliance’s progress and addressing pressing national issues, particularly the referendum law and ongoing dialogue efforts.
Following extensive deliberations, the AB alliance reaffirmed its commitment to internal cohesion between elected officials and the Presidium, as well as between parliamentarians and government representatives. Crucially, the alliance unanimously decided to support President Félix Antoine Tshisekedi’s initiatives to advance the referendum law and facilitate constructive national dialogue.
