The Groupement des Écoles Militaires Interarmées (GEMIA) in N’Djamena celebrated a milestone event today, marking the induction of its sixth cohort of Enfants de Troupe alongside an awards ceremony for top performers. The ceremony, held under heavy skies, drew high-ranking military and civilian leaders, including General Hisseine Abderamane Haggar and the Deputy Chief of General Staff, Yangmmargue Beh Félix.
A new chapter for 76 recruits
This year’s graduating class of 76 students began their rigorous training last October, enduring the demanding “bahutage” phase—a period of intense discipline designed to forge camaraderie, resilience, and unity. Addressing the assembly, the GEMIA commander declared, “Today, these recruits shed their ‘Bleus’ status to become full-fledged Enfants de Troupe.”
Military vision meets educational excellence
In his keynote address, the commander underscored the vision of President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno: “The future of Chad is built in its schools.” This philosophy aligns with the Enfants de Troupe motto: “Learn to build better,” rooted in values of honor, discipline, and achievement. The ceremony also recognized outstanding students, including the top performer, exemplary cadets, and top athletes, each receiving well-deserved commendations.
A call for collective support
The GEMIA commander concluded by urging partners and the Association of Former Enfants de Troupe to help elevate the institution into a national benchmark for military education. He extended warm vacation wishes to all personnel and students while expressing gratitude to parents for their pivotal role in nurturing the nation’s future leaders.
