The 27th anniversary of the Moroccan Throne Day was marked by a special message from United States President Donald Trump to King Mohammed VI. In his communication, the US leader reaffirmed Washington’s steadfast position regarding Western Sahara and voiced strong backing for Morocco’s autonomy initiative.
In his letter, President Trump stated, «The United States holds a clear stance: we recognize Morocco’s sovereignty over Western Sahara and endorse the Moroccan autonomy proposal as a serious, credible, and realistic foundation for a just and lasting resolution.»
He emphasized that alternative approaches merely prolong the existing deadlock, calling such scenarios «unacceptable». «This dispute must be resolved now, and the United States will continue to drive progress toward this outcome,» he added.
>Beyond geopolitical matters, Donald Trump extended warm congratulations to the Moroccan monarch and people, celebrating 250 years of uninterrupted friendship and cooperation between the two nations. He described the bilateral relationship as «built on mutual trust and respect.»
The US President also praised King Mohammed VI’s visionary leadership, describing the monarch as «a cornerstone of stability» in the region. He highlighted Morocco’s pivotal role in fostering peace, countering extremism, and safeguarding shared security interests—particularly through the historic Abraham Accords.
In a forward-looking gesture, Donald Trump announced plans to deepen collaboration aimed at enhancing security across the Sahel. Economically, he directed his administration to prioritize joint ventures in key sectors such as technology, innovation, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, and defense—including within Western Sahara.
«Together, we will usher in a new era of partnership,» Trump concluded, urging a future defined by shared prosperity and mutual benefit for both nations.
