The Ministry of Transport, Civil Aviation, and National Meteorology, in collaboration with port authorities, is hosting the 5th tripartite forum focused on enhancing trade facilitation for the Central African Republic (CAR), Chad, and Cameroon. The opening ceremony, held on May 11, 2026 in N’Djamena, was led by Fatima Goukouni Weddeye, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of Chad.

Scheduled for May 11–13, 2026, this forum serves as a vital platform for dialogue, fostering deeper economic cooperation among the three nations. During the event, participants from public and private sectors will engage in discussions aimed at streamlining transit processes, reducing logistics costs, and boosting regional economic integration.

Jean Ernest Masséna Ngallé Bibéhè, Cameroon’s Minister of Transport, praised the commitment of the three countries’ top leadership. He emphasized the critical role of Cameroon’s port infrastructure—particularly in Douala and Kribi—in supporting trade for landlocked nations like the CAR and Chad. « The solidarity among our countries is not just historical but essential for our collective economic growth, » he stated.

Highlighting a recent trade disruption, he called for the urgent resolution of a Cameroonian driver detained in Chad, urging a resolution grounded in mutual respect and cooperation.

In her opening remarks, Fatima Goukouni Weddeye stressed the forum’s vital importance for landlocked nations. « For Chad and the CAR, whose economies rely heavily on Cameroonian ports, the efficiency of these corridors directly impacts market supply, logistics costs, and overall economic competitiveness, » she explained.

The three-day event will feature collaborative sessions where delegates will share insights and propose actionable solutions to enhance trade flows, reduce bottlenecks, and strengthen regional economic ties.
