Algeria and Chad have formalized an agreement on Thursday in N’Djamena to streamline cooperation projects in public works and infrastructure development.
This pact advances their strategic partnership, aiming to expedite the implementation of key initiatives agreed upon during high-level talks held in April, as confirmed by the Algerian Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure.
Trans-Saharan highway project moves forward with feasibility studies
The agreement was signed by Algeria’s Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui, and Chad’s Minister of Infrastructure, Road Unblocking, and Maintenance, Amir Idriss Kourda. The signing took place during a coordination meeting in N’Djamena on the second day of an Algerian delegation’s working visit to Chad. Attendees included the Director-General of Algeria’s Agency for International Cooperation and Solidarity Development, the Algerian Ambassador to Chad, and representatives from Cosider Group and Algeria’s National Public Works Company (SNTP).
Chad’s delegation included the Minister Delegate for Infrastructure and senior officials. During discussions, Chad’s Infrastructure Minister highlighted the “rapid momentum” shaping bilateral cooperation, praising the tangible progress made since the April 22 agreement in Algiers. He specifically noted the ongoing technical exchanges and the initiation of feasibility studies for the Trans-Saharan highway project across Chad’s territory.
