Arsenal to host Coventry City in 2026/27 Premier League season opener

The opening weekend of the 2026/27 Premier League season is set to feature a standout fixture as Arsenal welcome Coventry City to the Emirates Stadium on the first matchday. The newly promoted Hull City face a stern test against Manchester United with Senne Lammens in goal, while Everton take on Crystal Palace at Goodison Park. Ipswich Town, another side returning to the top flight, travel to Sunderland for their comeback. Nottingham Forest host Leeds United, and Brentford lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur.

On Sunday 23 August, Brighton, featuring Maxime De Cuyper, meet Aston Villa—the Europa League champions led by Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana. Manchester City, still without a permanent head coach following Pep Guardiola’s departure, begin their campaign away to Bournemouth. Newcastle United welcome Liverpool to St James’ Park.

The opening round concludes on Monday 24 August with a London derby between Fulham and Chelsea at Craven Cottage.

Looking ahead to major clashes throughout the season, the first real blockbuster arrives on the weekend of 5 September when Arsenal face Chelsea in another London derby. A week later, Manchester United and Manchester City contest the Manchester derby. Liverpool host Manchester United around 21 November, and Arsenal take on last season’s runners-up Manchester City at the Emirates on the weekend of 28 November.
