The speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, held talks with Mohamed Ghayate, vice-president of Morocco’s House of Representatives, who is in Baku for the 20th session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States.
Both sides praised the current state of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Morocco, noting that the ties, built on mutual respect, are growing steadily, particularly in the political sphere. They highlighted productive cooperation within international organizations and the mutual support and solidarity shown on various platforms.
The critical role of interparliamentary cooperation in deepening bilateral relations was underlined. Gafarova expressed satisfaction with her official visit to Morocco and her meetings with Moroccan counterparts at international events, stressing that such contacts help strengthen ties. The active friendship groups in both legislatures were noted as facilitators of this development, and the memorandum of understanding signed this year between the two parliaments was seen as opening promising avenues for further deepening relations.
The two delegations welcomed their parliaments’ collaboration within international parliamentary bodies, especially the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement. It was emphasized that Morocco is well represented at the network’s conferences and places great importance on the organization’s work.
