The Republic of Benin and the Kingdom of Morocco have expressed strong satisfaction with their bilateral cooperation, while reaffirming their joint commitment to strengthen and expand it further.
During preparatory discussions ahead of the seventh session of the Morocco-Benin Joint Cooperation Commission, both nations highlighted significant progress across various cooperation sectors since His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s official visit to Cotonou in June 2004. The meetings, led by Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and Benin’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Integration, Corinne Amori Brunet, alongside the Minister of Resource Mobilization and Debt Management, Hugues Oscar Lokossou, underscored the depth of their long-standing friendship and mutual respect between King Mohammed VI and President Romuald Wadagni.
The discussions also emphasized the shared vision to elevate Morocco-Benin relations into a standout model of inter-African partnership, rooted in solidarity, exchange, and mutual benefit. Key areas identified for future collaboration include the economy, trade, industry, investment, tourism, agriculture, justice, security, vocational training, higher education, scientific research, healthcare, digital innovation, and cultural exchange.
In a move to solidify economic ties, both parties reiterated their dedication to fostering a robust private sector-led partnership. This initiative aims to empower private enterprises to drive economic exchanges and contribute to sustainable development financing.
