Bénin condemns Niamey airport attack, stands with Niger

The government of Bénin has expressed its solidarity with the people of Niger following the attacks that occurred on Thursday, 18 June 2026 near the Diori-Hamani international airport in Niamey.

In an official statement released in Cotonou, the Bénin authorities said they learned of these events with deep emotion and strongly condemned the attack targeting a strategic civilian infrastructure.

Bénin condemns with the utmost firmness this aggression, which targets a strategic civilian infrastructure and endangers the security of the population,” the statement emphasized.

In response to the situation, the Bénin government offered its support to the Nigerien people and to the authorities of Niger, particularly President Abdourahamane Tiani.

The Béninese authorities also reaffirmed their commitment to the historic bonds of brotherhood and friendship that unite the peoples of Bénin and Niger.
