The Ministry of Living Environment and Transport has granted an additional period for Beninese civil engineers to formalize their membership in the National Order of Civil Engineers of Bénin. Professionals now have a one-month window to complete their registration via the digital platform.
Government pushes back enrollment timeline
The authorities in Bénin are continuing the structured rollout of the National Order of Civil Engineers. In a recent announcement, Minister Georges Alé confirmed that the timeframe for the enrollment process has been extended. This decision ensures that all eligible practitioners have sufficient time to join the official registry.
This administrative adjustment is based on the provisions of Article 65 of Decree No. 2021-300, issued on June 9, 2021, which outlines the organizational framework for the civil engineering profession. The ministry stated that the period for launching the registration process for the National Order’s roll has been officially prolonged.
Eligibility and technical specializations
This census is aimed at Beninese civil engineers residing both locally and abroad. To be eligible, candidates must possess a design engineering degree, a professional Master’s degree recognized by the State and CAMES, or an equivalent certified qualification.
The registration drive covers a broad spectrum of technical fields, including:
- Building and public works
- Geotechnics and transportation infrastructure
- Hydraulics and energy systems
- Sanitation and environmental engineering
- Electronics, computer science, and telecommunications
Final call for professional compliance
Qualified individuals are urged to complete their applications on the official portal within thirty days of the extension’s signature. By implementing this measure, the ministry is calling on all relevant professionals to comply with current regulations. This step is vital for the successful establishment of the very first official roll of the National Order of Civil Engineers of Bénin, marking a significant milestone for the country’s engineering sector.
