Bénin’s child welfare system is gaining essential operational support. On Friday, April 17, 2026, the Abomey-Calavi School of Judicial Professions (EFPJ) hosted the official graduation ceremony for supervised education trainees, concluding a rigorous twelve-month training program. This signifies a vital advancement for juvenile justice in the nation.
After a year of dedicated effort, these specialized agents, focused on the protection of children and adolescents, are now prepared to enter their professional roles. Their integration will significantly strengthen a crucial component of Bénin’s judicial framework. The solemn ceremony was attended by distinguished guests, including Mr. Florentin Gbodou, Director of the Cabinet of the Minister of Justice, and Mrs. Bernadette Houndekandji Codjovi, Director of the EFPJ.
Elite Training Blending Theory and Practice
During the event, the EFPJ Director highlighted the updated training curriculum. The program is now structured into two key phases:
- Six months dedicated to theoretical studies, establishing a strong foundation in legal and pedagogical principles.
- Six months of practical application, providing direct immersion into the realities of the profession.
“Your mission with minors who are in conflict with the law or in situations of moral danger is fundamental to reinforcing our judicial protection system,” Mrs. Bernadette Houndekandji Codjovi emphasized to the graduates.
Responsibility and Humanism: Guiding Principles
Representing the graduating class, Mr. Dalil Bankolé Idohou conveyed his peers’ gratitude to the faculty. He reiterated the cohort’s commitment to practicing their profession guided by a clear triad: responsibility, humanism, and professionalism.
Mr. Florentin Gbodou, speaking on behalf of the Keeper of the Seals, urged the new officers to uphold integrity through:
- Meticulous case management.
- Dedicated service to vulnerable children.
- Proactive prevention of juvenile delinquency.
Imminent Deployments
A symbolic presentation of diplomas marked a highlight of the ceremony. These newly qualified professionals will soon be assigned by the Keeper of the Seals to various supervised education facilities across Bénin.
This graduation represents another stride in modernizing Bénin’s justice system, prioritizing education and social reintegration in the care of young individuals.
