Brest to pay tribute to Éric Roy ahead of PSG clash

Brest to honor Éric Roy before Ligue 1 match against PSG

The Stade Brestois 29 will pay a special tribute to former coach Éric Roy during their upcoming Ligue 1 showdown against Paris Saint-Germain.

On September 13, 2026, the Stade Francis-Le Blé will host an emotionally charged match as the Stade Brestois 29 prepares to honor the memory of Éric Roy. The former coach, who passed away on June 17, will be remembered in a ceremony before the highly anticipated Ligue 1 clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

In an official statement, the club expressed its deep gratitude for Roy’s contributions: « The Stade Brestois 29 hopes this tribute will reflect the profound impact Éric Roy had on the club’s history and the affection his family, friends, teammates, and the entire Brest community held for him ».

Initially, the club had planned to hold the tribute during earlier matches at Francis-Le Blé, but logistical challenges hindered those plans. The pre-season fixtures did not allow for the desired public turnout, while sanctions from previous incidents—including the closure of the Quimper stand due to fireworks misuse during a game against Toulouse FC—further complicated arrangements. As a result, the club decided to postpone the homage until the PSG fixture, ensuring the best possible conditions to celebrate Roy’s legacy.
