Cameroonian influencer Elysée le Sneiper arrested in Côte d’Ivoire: Moustik le Karismatik calls on government

The detention of Cameroonian influencer Elysée le Sneiper in Côte d’Ivoire has triggered a wave of reactions back home. In a post on Meta, comedian Moustik le Karismatik directly appealed to the government of President Paul Biya.

Cameroonian influencer Elysée le Sneiper was apprehended in Côte d’Ivoire on charges of insulting the head of state. The case stems from a 2023 video that resurfaced, originally recorded during a tense diplomatic dispute between Côte d’Ivoire and Cameroon. That clip, now taken out of its original context, led to his arrest.

In a subsequent video posted on his Meta page, Elysée le Sneiper offered an explanation and formally apologised to the Ivorian people, acknowledging the seriousness of the situation as the controversy escalated.

Following the influencer’s detention, Moustik le Karismatik publicly called on Cameroonian authorities to act. He first addressed the Cameroonian embassy in Côte d’Ivoire, then directly urged President Paul Biya to take notice. The comedian expressed deep concern for his compatriot and demanded to know what steps had been taken to ensure his safety, provide consular assistance, and uphold his rights while held on foreign soil.
