Chad Libya to launch direct flights between N’Djamena and benghazi

In a significant step toward deepening regional ties, Chad and Libya are advancing plans for a direct air link between N’Djamena and Benghazi. The announcement follows high-level diplomatic talks in the Libyan city, where senior officials from both nations outlined priorities for enhanced bilateral cooperation.

During a meeting on July 13, 2026, Libyan Foreign Minister Dr. Abdelhadi Al-Houij held discussions with Mr. Hassan Ahmat Daissire, Chad’s Consul General in Benghazi, alongside Mr. Aboubakar Sidick Mahamat Abagana, Consular Attaché. The agenda covered key sectors including consular services, trade, transportation, and digital connectivity. A proposed direct flight route emerged as a central pillar of the initiative, aimed at streamlining travel and fostering people-to-people exchanges between the two capitals.

The talks also addressed ongoing efforts to facilitate the voluntary return of Chadian nationals, in coordination with relevant authorities and international partners. Both delegations underscored their commitment to reinforcing the long-standing, brotherly bonds that define the Chad-Libya relationship.
