N’Djamena’s future takes shape at strategic workshop

The validation workshop for the Municipal Agency of Major Works (AMGT) strategic documents kicked off on Monday in N’Djamena, bringing together municipal leaders, technical directors, and experts from the Center for Innovation and Development. This gathering follows the agency’s inaugural board meeting, which set the stage for its mission to address N’Djamena’s most pressing urban challenges.

AMGT’s role in urban transformation

Speaking at the opening, Sanoussi Hassana Abdoulaye, Mayor of N’Djamena, highlighted the agency’s mandate: to strengthen the city’s capacity for designing, financing, and executing transformative projects. These initiatives aim to meet the growing demands of residents, from infrastructure and sanitation to climate resilience.

“The AMGT was created to break new ground in how N’Djamena plans, funds, and builds its future,” Abdoulaye stated. “With rapid urbanization and demographic shifts, this agency will be central to delivering the essential infrastructure and services that citizens deserve.”

Key documents approved for sustainable development

Participants reviewed three critical frameworks:

  • Administrative, financial, and accounting management manual – Establishes robust systems to track resources and measure impact.
  • Monitoring and evaluation framework – Ensures accountability and continuous performance improvement.
  • Environmental, social, and gender management framework – Embeds sustainability, inclusivity, and equity into every project.

The mayor emphasized that the success of these documents hinges on transparent governance, rigorous processes, and active stakeholder engagement. By refining these tools, the AMGT aims to build a stronger, more responsive municipal agency capable of driving N’Djamena’s development for years to come.
