Chelsea Football Club has shattered the Premier League transfer record with the acquisition of Aston Villa winger Morgan Rogers. The 23-year-old English talent joins the Blues for a staggering £117 million (€137 million), eclipsing the previous benchmark set just days earlier by Manchester City’s Elliot Anderson.

Rogers’ move comes hot on the heels of a fierce bidding war between Chelsea and Arsenal, with the latter also expressing strong interest in the young star. The London club secured his services with a six-year contract plus a one-year option, making him the most expensive English footballer in history.

“I’m absolutely thrilled. Chelsea isn’t just London’s greatest club—it’s the one I’ve dreamed of playing for since I was a kid,” Rogers stated after finalising the deal.

The transfer fee surpasses the previous Premier League record of £115 million (€135 million) paid for Anderson, who made the switch from Nottingham Forest to Manchester City earlier this month. Rogers’ arrival underscores Chelsea’s aggressive approach to rebuilding their squad under new ownership.
