Dr Bacary Thior has announced his departure from the Primature cabinet, a decision he attributes to the recent change in leadership involving Ousmane Sonko. He affirmed his actions are guided by his personal principles, reiterating his unwavering commitment to public service and his continued allegiance to Ousmane Sonko, who leads the Pastef party.

The former Technical Advisor for Health, Dr Bacary Thior, confirmed his resignation from the Primature cabinet following Ousmane Sonko’s tenure as Prime Minister coming to an end.

In a statement released this Thursday, Dr Thior articulated that his decision was made “in accordance with his principles.”

“Upon the conclusion of Mr. Ousmane Sonko’s duties as Prime Minister, I made the choice to leave the Cabinet, consistent with my deeply held principles,” he explained.

Despite his departure, Dr Bacary Thior emphasized his readiness to continue serving the State, stating his availability for any capacity where his expertise might be beneficial. He also confirmed his ongoing dedication to Ousmane Sonko, who currently serves as the president of the Pastef party and leads the National Assembly.

His message concluded with expressions of gratitude to his colleagues, along with apologies for any past shortcomings and an offer of forgiveness to them.
