Diplomats, officials, and community leaders gathered in N’Djamena to honor the enduring friendship and collaborative efforts between France and Chad on French National Day.
The French Embassy in Chad hosted a vibrant ceremony at the French Residence in N’Djamena on the evening of July 14, 2026, commemorating French National Day. This festive occasion brought together a diverse gathering of dignitaries, including French Ambassador Éric Gérard, senior officials from Chad’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, military representatives, diplomats, French expatriates, and key figures from both public and private sectors, as well as civil society leaders.
The event opened with the national anthems of both nations, setting a tone of unity and mutual respect. Ambassador Gérard then delivered a speech emphasizing the significance of July 14 for France, highlighting the core values of liberty, equality, and fraternity that define the French Republic.
He also reflected on the deep-rooted friendship between France and Chad, forged through decades of shared history and collaboration. The Ambassador paid tribute to the veterans in attendance, acknowledging their contributions to this enduring alliance.
“This friendship is not static—it grows stronger each day,” he remarked. “We must continue building ties rooted in mutual respect, trust, and transparency. We value honest dialogue and shared commitment.”
The Ambassador highlighted the active cooperation between the two nations, citing 39 ongoing projects spanning critical sectors such as water supply, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, education, and youth empowerment initiatives. He noted that the recent meeting between the heads of state of both countries on January 29 in Paris marked a pivotal moment in reshaping their partnership.
The second milestone was the Africa-France Summit in Nairobi, where leaders from 49 African nations, including Chad, convened to discuss shared priorities and future collaborations.
Gérard also underscored France’s dedication to Chad’s development, particularly through the national development plan “Tchad Connexion 2030,” a strategic roadmap designed to propel the country forward.
The evening concluded with a renewed sense of solidarity, celebrating the unbreakable bond between Chad and France.
