During a recent working visit to Dakar, Gabon’s Minister of State for Transport, Merchant Marine, and Logistics, Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi, held talks with his Senegalese counterpart, Abdoul Ahad Ndiaye. Our discussions focused on the critical challenges of infrastructure modernization and the enhancement of bilateral relations, establishing a clear pathway for sharing valuable expertise between Libreville and Dakar.
Gabon is eager to replicate Senegal’s successful structural frameworks to upgrade its own systems. During our exchange, the Minister of State noted that the discussions covered various aspects of land and air transport. Indeed, Senegal’s achievements in managing the Blaise Diagne International Airport, alongside its expanding road and railway networks, serve as an inspiring benchmark for Gabonese authorities.
Harmonising regulations and boosting technical capacity
The talks also focused on aligning safety and regulatory frameworks with global standards to ensure seamless transit operations. Both nations plan to pool their expertise in technical management, airport security, and professional training for industry executives.
By leveraging Senegal’s proven track record, Gabon aims to accelerate the upgrade of its facilities, optimize domestic traffic flow, and restructure its public transit systems. This initiative is designed to revitalize a sector in urgent need of modernization. Furthermore, this collaborative effort involves strategic planning around logistics infrastructure and multimodality. The goal is to establish efficient connections between land networks and air routes, thereby improving regional connectivity and streamlining the transport of passengers and freight. In this ambitious overhaul, Libreville is looking directly to Dakar as a guiding model.

Beyond technical alignment, this partnership underscores a shared commitment to fostering South-South cooperation. By combining resources and exchanging best practices, Gabon and Senegal are positioning the transport sector as a primary engine for economic development, trade expansion, and deeper continental integration.
