Ivory Coast Prepares Linguistic Policy to Value National Languages

The Ivory Coast is preparing a linguistic policy to value its national languages as part of its education system. A recent meeting brought together stakeholders, experts and partners to develop a framework for better integration of national languages into the curriculum.

The event was attended by representatives from the Ministry of National Education, Alphabétisation and Technical Training, as well as experts and partners in the field. The goal is to create a reference framework that will enable the use and appropriation of national languages in the education system.

According to the Minister of National Education, N’Guessan Koffi, the country’s linguistic diversity is an important cultural heritage that needs to be preserved and promoted. He emphasized the need for policies that support the development of our language and culture.

The meeting discussed various challenges facing the education system in Ivory Coast, including improving quality, reducing inequalities, promoting inclusion, and preparing students for economic, social, technological and cultural changes. The Minister stressed the importance of developing policies based on national realities.

The linguistic policy is expected to have a significant impact on the education system, making languages more accessible and adapted to local contexts. It will also contribute to the development of our language and culture, as well as improving the quality of education for future generations.
