Kétou makes uniforms mandatory for motorcycle taxi drivers

Bénin : uniform now compulsory for all taxi-moto drivers in Kétou

In Kétou, all motorcycle taxi operators will soon be required to wear a uniform while working. The municipal authorities have launched an enrollment drive ahead of this reform, which is presented as a way to boost security, simplify driver identification, and bring better order to urban transport.

To implement the measure, a registration campaign will run from 6 to 20 July 2026 at the administrative secretariats of each of the commune’s six arrondissements. Drivers must bring a valid ID to be registered. This step is essential to obtain the official uniform.

After the enrollment period, only registered drivers wearing the uniform will be permitted to carry passengers. The town hall warns that any driver failing to comply will face penalties under the applicable regulations.

Local authorities are also urging passengers to support the reform by choosing officially identified drivers. Arrondissement chiefs, taxi-moto driver associations, and security services have been tasked with enforcing the new rule.
