Former President of Côte d’Ivoire and current leader of the Parti des Peuples Africains-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), Laurent Gbagbo, has announced a significant restructuring of his party’s leadership by delegating key presidential responsibilities to five prominent political figures. This move signals a strategic shift toward collective governance within the party.
The decision was formally communicated through an official PPA-CI statement, outlining the new distribution of duties among senior party officials. According to the declaration signed by Gbagbo himself, Assoa Adou has been appointed First Vice-President, tasked with overseeing party statutes and internal regulations, ensuring all structures and members adhere to established guidelines.
Hubert Oulaye has been designated Second Vice-President, with responsibility for managing party operations and presiding over Central Committee meetings. Meanwhile, Dano Djédjé Sébastien has been named President of the Strategic and Political Council, responsible for the party’s overall direction and operational supervision.
Koffi N’Guessan and Martial Adou have also been assigned key roles in this new leadership framework, further reinforcing the collaborative approach. In explaining this reorganization, Gbagbo emphasized that the decision reflects a commitment to shared governance, where collective strength and unified action take precedence over individual leadership.
The former head of state stated, “This delegation of authority is rooted in the belief that a party’s resilience and effectiveness lie not in the hands of one individual, but in the coordinated efforts of its leadership and grassroots members.” He added that “only through unity, discipline, and complementary roles can the PPA-CI overcome challenges and fulfill its mission to serve the Ivorian people.”
